Welcome and general blabbing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE NEW ALBUM IS HERE! Just in case you missed the message above, you can get it at _www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1_ (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1) Soon, it?ll be available at _www.goldenrod.com_ (http://www.goldenrod.com/) , _www.ladyslipper.org_ (http://www.ladyslipper.org/) and a plethora of download sites including _www.iTunes.com_ (http://www.itunes.com/) . Want to hear it? There are samples at CD Baby or you can hear all of ?Her Problem Now? at _www.jamieanderson.com/music.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/music.html) and in case that song sounds familiar, yes, I?ve recorded it before but this is a new acoustic version. This is my ninth album and to say I?m merely excited about it is a gross understatement. Two of the songs include Free Planet Radio, a band made up of Chris Rosser, Eliot Wadopian and River Guerguerian. They?ve played with performers like Sophie B. Hawkins, David Wilcox and the Paul Winter Consort. The other songs were recorded with my fab band, Broad Street ? Hollis Brown on violin, Lou Newman on bass and Kimberly Kornegay on vocals. I?m doing an album release concert in Raleigh, NC in April. I?m hoping for some special guests ? more on that next month. I?ll also be celebrating with an appearance at Festival for the Eno in Durham, NC and some touring in the fall. I hope to make it to New York, New England, the Midwest and Arizona/New Mexico. In other news ? SPRING! A small but mighty crop of daffodils have sprung up in my front yard. I can?t wait for those bright yellow buds to open. I hope you can see spring in your life too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Article about house concerts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I?ve been playing at house concerts since the 80?s. Here?s an article about them: _http://www.americanwaymag.com/musical-equipment-music-reporter-1_ (http://www.americanwaymag.com/musical-equipment-music-reporter-1) If you?d like to host a house concert, give me a shout: tsunaminc at aol dot com Right now I?m looking for gigs in the fall, especially the central Midwest, NY/New England and Arizona/New Mexico. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Susan from Goldenrod ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Susan is a friend and one of the most wonderful people I know. You may know her from Goldenrod, a well-known women's music distribution company. She's also been a presence at the Folk Alliance conference, women's music festivals and other events. If you can help her, please read on. Some of you are aware that Susan was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) this past September. This cancer of the bone marrow/blood causes the rapid growth of abnormal blood cells that interfere with the production of normal blood cells. Susan?s only symptoms were a lack of energy and excessive bruising. The treatment for leukemia includes the deliberate destruction of the white blood cells, the body?s primary defense against infection, which has resulted in several scary battles with opportunistic bugs and many weeks of hospitalization ? including spending the winter holidays in intensive care. Her best hope for long-term survival is a bone marrow transplant. I don?t have the latest information on this but she may have found a donor ? even if she has, it will involve many expenses not covered by insurance. Here?s how you can help: 1) A bank account is being set up in Susan?s name to which donations can be mailed directly. We will share the address and account number as soon as it is available. You can email _SusanFsFriends at aol.com_ (mailto:SusanFsFriends at aol.com) to receive the account information. Donations are not tax deductible. 2) You can attend one of the fund raisers being organized for Susan?s benefit. To be informed of these events, please email _SusanFsFriends at aol.com_ (mailto:SusanFsFriends at aol.com) 3) You can organize a fund raiser of your own in your area. Perhaps you could host a dinner in your home, or approach a group you belong to. 4) You can join the National Bone Marrow Registry. For more information, or to find a bone marrow registry drive near you, visit _www.marrow.org_ (http://www.marrow.org/) . 5) If you, or someone you know, is pregnant encourage her to donate the umbilical cord blood at the time of birth - labor and delivery are not affected. No blood is taken from your baby, only from the umbilical cord itself after your baby is born. This invaluable blood is routinely discarded after birth. You can obtain more information at _www.marrow.org_ (http://www.marrow.org/) . 6) Send your good wishes and cards to Susan at _sfbootshealth at aol.com_ (mailto:sfbootshealth at aol.com) . 7) Continue to hold Susan in your thoughts and prayers, send her healing energy, light candles ? whatever you are moved to do. For more information about leukemia, visit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society web site at _www.lls.org_ (http://www.lls.org/) . Thanks everyone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Review the new album ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It really helps when folks say nice things about my albums. If you could write a short review about Better Than Chocolate, that?d be great. You don? t have to be the Margaret Atwood of CD reviews ? you could say something as simple as ?I loved it, my dog loved it, you?ll love it.? Post a review at _www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1_ (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1) - look for the review button at the bottom of the page. You have to log on to post but you don?t have to buy the CD from them. You can also post a review almost anywhere the album is available. If you?re a lesbian, you can send a review to the Lesbian Connection at _elsiepub at aol.com_ (mailto:elsiepub at aol.com) . Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. Please help me get festival bookings ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Festivals listen to fan requests so if there?s a festival or other large event that you attend and you?d like to see me there, let the organizers know. Many haven?t finalized their line-up and hearing from you might help me get that important booking. Mailing list business ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You are on this list because you signed up at a concert or went online and signed yourself up. If neither of those things happened then someone has forwarded you this newsletter. I do not add anyone without their permission nor is this list sold to anyone else. If you'd like to unsub, I'll cry but I won't make you pay my therapist bill. You can do it yourself at _www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html) . Likewise if you'd like to change your address. Please don't forward virus warnings, news items, jokes or petitions. With over 2,000 of you on this list it'd be too much to keep up with the extra mail. However, I love getting mail from fans and answer when I can: tsunamiinc at aol dot com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8. Ending quote ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ?Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears ? it is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear. But for many of my neurological patients, music is even more ? it can provide access even where no medication can, to movement, to speech, to life. For them music is not a luxury, but a necessity.? ? Oliver Sacks, neurologist and author of Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain His book is fascinating, I highly recommend it and I completely agree ? music is a necessity.
