2.  Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s  been so warm here in Canada that I swear I didn’t leave North
Carolina. Now if I  could only find some grits. What am I thinking? I don’t even
like grits. I just  tried poutine, though and that should count. It’s a
French Canadian, um,  delicacy – french fries loaded with gravy and cheese curds.
It looks like  something from a horror flick but I gotta say, it sure was
tasty, even if I  could hardly hear above my arteries slapping shut.
In  August I spent a week in the woods in Michigan with a few thousand of
my  friends. Had a freakin’ blast. I taught a songwriting workshop, worked
for  Goldenrod and got to play on the day stage with Nedra Johnson and again,
on the  night stage for “Chix Lix.” Sure was fun telling everyone I was
Nedra’s guitar  player. I wish I had a photo of the prom dress I wore for the
second gig but  y’all will just have to imagine it’s loveliness – a vision
of teal ruffles,  satin and butt bow. A butt bow, people.
As I  was rehearsing “Testimony” with Nedra’s band, Nedra says “Look over
there.” I  look up and there’s Ferron listening to us. After we finished,
she said in a  matter-of-fact way, “That was good, guys.” I think I quit
breathing for a  moment. It was like playing “Blowing in the Wind” with Dylan
standing  there.
Just as  exciting, the song that we did on the night stage was Cris
Williamson’s  “Joanna.” The next day, Cris complimented me on my work and said I
could include  the song in my regular show. I might just do that. I’ve always
loved that  song.
This  weekend I’m making a rare appearance in New England, at the fabulous
lesbian  resort The Highlands Inn. I’m doing a show on Saturday and it’s
free for guests.  If you haven’t booked anything for the Labor Day weekend and
you want a nice  getaway, check it out: _www.highlandsinn-nh.com_
(http://www.highlandsinn-nh.com/) . It's a beautiful inn with a  pool, two hot tubs,
wonderful food and in an area with lots of outdoor  activities. They're only
a few hours from NYC, Boston and other major  cities.
If  you’re closer to Ontario, I hope you can come to my gigs in Toronto or
Kingston  in early September. Information is above. It’s my first time
playing in each  city so bring 50 of your closest friends, ‘k?
I’m  booking gigs for early April in Florida and later in the month, the
Midwest. If  you have a living room big enough to seat 20 or more, give me a
shout. House  concerts are easy and there’s no money out of your pocket –
all of my income  comes from money collected at the door. If you want to know
more, e me:  Jamie at jamieanderson.com
Hope to  see you y’all soon!
3.  Updated website!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have an almost new website. There are new videos, songs for download and
general merriment. Check it out: www.jamieanderson.com

4.  Articles in Curve
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve  got a new article in the online version of Curve:
ove-songs/_
(http://www.curvemag.com/Curve-Magazine/Web-Articles-2010/20-Great-Lesbian-Love-songs/)
Also,  the newest paper version has several of my articles, including one
about  immigrating, called "Love Across the Border."
5. Do  you live in Florida or the Midwest? Want a concert in your living
room?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve got openings in April for house concerts. If you’ve always wanted a
singer-songwriter in your living room (or finished basement or big dining
room or?) and you’ve got an address book of at least 20 folks who would
come, shoot me an email: _Jamie at jamieanderson.com_
(mailto:Jamie at jamieanderson.com)
Not sure how to do a house concert? It’s easy. There’s a wonderful
article at _http://www.trritchie.com/newhouseconcerts.htm_
(http://www.trritchie.com/newhouseconcerts.htm)  There’s also one at
_http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/06/09/house.concerts/index.html_
(http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/06/09/house.concerts/index.html)
I’d also welcome house concert opportunities elsewhere. I’ll be in
Arizona and New Mexico in November/December and on the east coast next summer.

7.  Mailing list business
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You  are on this list because you signed up at a concert or went online and
signed  yourself up. If neither of those things happened then someone has
forwarded you  this newsletter. I do not add anyone without their permission
nor is this list  sold to anyone else. If you'd like to unsub, I'll cry but
I won't make you pay  my therapist bill. You can do it yourself at
_www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html_
(http://www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html) . Likewise if you'd like to change your address.  Please  don't forward
virus warnings, news items, jokes or petitions.  With over 2,000 of you on
this list it'd be too much to keep up with the extra  mail. However, I love
getting mail from fans and answer when I can: tsunamiinc  at aol dot com.
8.  Ending quotes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are quotes from two intelligent women:
“I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine marriage and a
career.”  – Gloria Steinem
“When women are depressed, they either eat or go shopping. Men invade
another  country.” – Elayne Boosler
Not that I need an excuse to eat chocolate.
Stay  well, everyone --
