2. Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Durham is bursting with a colorful spring – brilliant yellow of forsythia,
deep pink of azaleas and that bright green you only see in new leaves.
Wonderful!
My students had their yearly recital last month. I felt like a proud mama.
>From an 8 year old plunking out “Skip to My Lou” to a woman who sang in
public for the first time, they all rocked it. I saw a lot of shaking hands
but still, they got through it to get some well-deserved applause. One of
my youngest students, a seven year old, confidently told me that she wasn't
nervous at all. In 20 years I’ll see her on TV. As long as she thanks me
when she wins her Grammy, I’m good.
Don’t forget about my new album, Better Than Chocolate. Hear clips and
buy it at _www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1_
(http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1) You can also buy it at _www.goldenrod.com_
(http://www.goldenrod.com/) , _www.ladyslipper.org_ (http://www.ladyslipper.org/) and a plethora
of download sites including _www.iTunes.com_ (http://www.itunes.com/) .
I’m doing an album release concert in Raleigh, NC in a couple of weeks.
Details are above. If you live in the area, please help me celebrate! If you
know someone here, please send them the details. I’d love to pack the place
– not only ‘cause it’s my new album but also because it’s a benefit for
a really great non-profit, SWOOP. They have monthly work days where they
help other groups fix up their buildings; do yard work and other great stuff.
3. Do you live in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And can you help distribute flyers for my upcoming show? If yes, e me
(Jamie at jamieanderson dot com) and I’ll send you a flyer. Thanks!

4. Review the new album
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It really helps when folks say nice things about my albums. If you could
write a short review about Better Than Chocolate, that’d be great. You don’
t have to be the Margaret Atwood of CD reviewers – you could say something
as simple as “I loved it, my dog loved it, you’ll love it.”
Post a review at _www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1_
(http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/JamieAnderson1) - look for the review button at the bottom of the
page. You have to log on to post but you don’t have to buy the CD from them.
You can also post a review almost anywhere the album is available.
If you’re a lesbian, you can send a review to the Lesbian Connection at
_elsiepub at aol.com_ (mailto:elsiepub at aol.com) .
Thanks!
5. Looking for house concerts in Arizona and New Mexico
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve got a couple of openings in November and December for house concerts.
If you’ve always wanted a singer-songwriter in your living room (or
finished basement or big dining room or?) and you’ve got an address book of at
least 20 folks who would come, shoot me an email and we’ll talk. Doing a
house concert is easy and fun. There’s no money out of your pocket, my pay
comes from the door proceeds.
I’ve been playing at house concerts since the 80’s. Here’s an article
about them:

6. Mailing list business
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are on this list because you signed up at a concert or went online and
signed yourself up. If neither of those things happened then someone has
forwarded you this newsletter. I do not add anyone without their permission
nor is this list sold to anyone else. If you'd like to unsub, I'll cry but
I won't make you pay my therapist bill. You can do it yourself at
_www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html_
(http://www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html) . Likewise if you'd like to change your address. Please don't forward
virus warnings, news items, jokes or petitions. With over 2,000 of you on
this list it'd be too much to keep up with the extra mail. However, I love
getting mail from fans and answer when I can: tsunamiinc at aol dot com.
7. Ending quotes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got these from _www.curvemag.com_ (http://www.curvemag.com/) . Three
quotes from three great entertainers:
“I would like for [Rep. Sally Kern] to move up in government. ’Cause if
she thinks that homosexuality is a bigger threat than terrorism, maybe she’
ll get our troops out of Iraq, and they’ll go invade West Hollywood.
Anything to get our troops home!” — Wanda Sykes on The Ellen DeGeneres Show
“Marvin Hamlisch’s manager called and said, ‘If you lose 60 pounds, I’ll
make you the next Barbra Streisand.’ I said, ‘Why don’t I gain 60 pounds
and you can make me the next Mama Cass, because that position is at least
available.’ ” — Suede, during her show on an Olivia cruise
“I was like, ‘It ain’t for me…but I love you.’ I realized I wasn’t gay—
and I really felt bad, because I wanted to fit in.” — Cyndi Lauper, on
holding hands with and kissing her childhood friend, in the New York Times
At least she tried. J
