2. Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve been mucking about New York and Ontario the last couple of weeks. I’ve
developed a new standard for the weather: if I go outside and take a deep
breath, it’s not really cold unless my nostrils freeze together.
Thanks to everyone who’s come to my shows. Without you, I’d be singing for
my cats and frankly, the applause just wouldn’t mean the same.
This Sunday I’m returning to Philadelphia, in a double bill with Tret Fure.
Details are above. Please come and bring 75 of your closest friends.
3. New videos at YouTube
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are a couple of new videos at YouTube, from a recent performance in
Rockford, IL with my buddy Kara Barnard:

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6zFe2mA2vM)
If you would be so kind as to watch ‘em and rate ‘em, I’d put you in my
will. Of course, I don’t own much but a couple of guitars, a few hundred CDs and
three cats … but it’s the thought that counts.

4. Never Assume has been re-released
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My 1995 album, Never Assume, has been out of print for a few years but it’s
baaaaaack! You can get it at www.cdbaby.com/cd/jamieanderson5 and other fine
outlets. I’ll have it at shows too. It features “When Cats Take Over the
World,” Menstrual Tango” and more. Funny woman Lisa Koch, pictured above,
produced it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5. Still raising funds for my new album
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you can help me with my newest album, I’d be very grateful. It’s easy.
Go to _www.jamieanderson.com_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/) and click on the
link on the home page that says “Help Jamie Put Out Her New Album.” It’ll
tell you how you can pay via PayPal or print out an order form and mail in a
check the old fashioned way. I’ll also have order forms at my shows.
In addition to purchasing the new album, I'm looking for anyone who can lend
me a thousand dollars or more. It's something I've done for previous albums
and I'd be happy to give you references. E me if you'd like to know more:
office at jamieanderson dot com
I’ve got a ton of new songs and a great studio picked out PLUS Kara Barnard
will be joining me on guitar, banjo and mandolin. (No, I'm not letting her
play the autoharp but I'm thinking the musical saw would fit in nicely.) I’ll
go into the studio in late this year or early next. To say I’m excited about
this recording is a gross understatement.
6. Gonga CD sale extended
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had so much fun with this sale last month I’ve decided to extend it. We don
’t usually sell CDs directly but for this gonga sale, we’ll make an
exception. Get any of my CDs (except Three Bridges) for $5 off. AND with every
purchase you get a FREE Listen CD. And even better? We’ll pay the postage. U.S.
addresses only. Tell us what you want and e it: tsunamiinc at aol dot com. You
can pay via PayPal at that address. Or you can do it the old fashioned way and
mail a check made out to Tsunami Recordings at PO Box 15003, Durham, NC,
27704.
Here’s what’s on sale:
A Promise of Light, $10
Drive All Night, $10
Listen, $10
Never Assume, $10
(More about each at http://jamieanderson.com/discography.html)
Don’t forget, you get a FREE Listen CD with EVERY purchase AND we pay the
postage.
Sale ends April 30, 2009.
Did I mention the FREE CD? Oh? I did?

7. Free Jamie Anderson tapes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Almost free – it’s a mere $2 for shipping. There’s no other cost for this
Drive All Night tape. It’s a great quality, it’s just that it’s a tape and
hard to sell these days. Be sure to let me know your name and address: office
at jamieanderson dot com. You can send a check for $2 to PO Box 15003, Durham,
NC, 27704 or use the paypal button at _www.jamieanderson.com/music.html_
(http://www.jamieanderson.com/music.html) . While you’re there, download a few
free songs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
8. Play my music on Folk Alley and help me chart
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Folk Alley is a great on-line radio station that plays folk music 24/7. A
few of my songs are in the open mic section. Please give them a listen and help
me move up on their charts. With enough plays they might put me on their
regular playlist.
9. The stories behind my songs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last month I had a great time telling you about the story behind my song “
Drive All Night.” This month I’m going to blab about “Six Flags Over Jesus” It
’s not on any of my recordings but you can download it for free from
_www.jamieanderson.com/music.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/music.html)
I played in Denver a few years ago. The next day I drove south to Colorado
Springs for another gig. Coming into the city was a big sign that proclaimed “
Focus on the Family next exit.” I kvetched about it at the concert that night
and someone yelled out that they had a name for that place. I figured a
place like that should have its own theme song so I wrote it.
I think it’d make a great video with Jack Black as Jesus and Angelina Jolie
as Mary. I’d cast myself too and also hire Rachel Maddow to do … something.
There’s at least one venue who won’t hire me back because of this song. On
the other hand, I played it once for a church and they lustily sang along. Go
figure.
Is there a Jamie Anderson song you’d like to know more about? Write to me
and maybe I’ll cover it in a future newsletter.

10. Mailing list business
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are on this list because you signed up at a concert or went online and
signed yourself up. If neither of those things happened then someone has
forwarded you this newsletter. I do not add anyone without their permission nor is
this list sold to anyone else. If you'd like to unsub, I'll cry but I won't
make you pay my therapist bill. You can do it yourself at
_www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html) . Likewise
if you'd like to change your address. Please don't forward virus warnings,
news items, jokes or petitions. With over 2,000 of you on this list it'd be
too much to keep up with the extra mail. However, I love getting mail from
fans and answer when I can: tsunamiinc at aol dot com.
11. Ending quotes
>From a recent Larry King interview:
King: Proposition 8, it bans marriage of two [people of the] same gender.
The high court of the state of California heard the appeal of the vote of the
people. What do you think?
Judge Judy: We've got a lot of trouble in this country. We've got a lot of
trouble in the world. Why the state should be interested in proscribing the
word marriage from two people who love each other, who are responsible,
tax-paying, productive people, who have created a family ... why the state would
have an interest in proscribing that kind of conduct, I don't understand.
I understand the anger about poverty. I understand the anger about AIG. I
understand the problem about the banks. I understand the problem about
Afghanistan and the Taliban and everything else. But I don't understand the
preoccupation with gays being permitted to marry.
***************
People laugh at me ‘cause I watch Judge Judy. I feel vindicated now.
