2. Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This last weekend was packed. I spent a lot of time at a wonderful
bellydance event and on Sunday, my guitar students did a concert. They were amazing!
And the bellydancers – hot damn, they were all so talented and beautiful. I
swear a couple of them had battery powered hips. I emceed both nights, getting
to try out my bellydance jokes and letting them in on my secret fear of
getting wrapped up in a veil and never finding my way out. And the band! They let
me jam with them. I played a cumbus, a Turkish instrument that looks like a
cross between a banjo and a twelve string guitar. Now I get why musicians love
playing for bellydancers. I ‘bout levitated from all the energy. The best
part was that on Saturday, I played an original song called “Bellydancer” (not
an original title but hey, I can’t be brilliant all the time) while my
friend Shahzaadee danced and girl howdy, it was all I could do to keep focused on
what I was singing. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Check out her website:
_www.myspace.com/shahzaadee_ (http://www.myspace.com/shahzaadee)
On to one of my other jobs, performing for all of you! Soon I’ll be leaving
on an east coast tour. More above. I’ve still got a couple of gaps so if you
want to offer a house concert or if you know of a local venue that can book
on short notice (and isn't a noisy bar), e me: Jamie at jamieanderson dot com.
More below.
3. Goodbye to Brenda Henson
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s with much sadness that I tell you that Brenda Henson, one of the
founders of Camp Sister Spirit, passed away on February 8 after a battle with
cancer. Brenda always had a ready smile and a big hug for me and I wasn’t the only
one. She will be missed so much. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent
to SisterSpirit, Inc/Camp Sister Spirit, PO Box 12, Ovett, MS 39464 or
Rainbow Law, RR 1, Box 266C,Wallace, WV 26448; or to a social justice organization
of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to Wanda Henson, 317 Adams St.,
Dumas AR 71639,or _bkins45 at centurytel.net_ (mailto:bkins45 at centurytel.net) .

4. Do you live in southern Ontario, eastern/central PA, NY or New England?
Wanna put on a house concert?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don’t you want a concert in your living room? You only need room for 20 or
more and a good list of friends who would probably come. I've worked with a
lot of first-time organizers so it’s easy peasy for you. AND there's no money
up front, I just take what's collected at the door. Give me a shout if you're
interested: tsunamiinc at aol dot com. Here’s what I have open:
Sunday, March 16, MA, CT, RI, NH, VT
Saturday, March 22 and 23, southern Ontario
Friday, March 28, NY (Buffalo or elsewhere in western NY)
Sunday, March 30, upstate NY
Sunday, April 6, NY, central/eastern PA
5. Looking for help with publicity in MA and NY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can you help get the word out about my gigs in MA and NY? All you need to do
is e a blurb to your friends. Maybe there’s a lesbian or folk listserv where
you can post the information? If you need a short paragraph, e me:
tsunamiinc at aol dot com. Thanks!!

6. I’m the featured performer at www.indiegrrl.com!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Check it out: _www.indiegrrl.com/featuredartist.htm_
(http://www.indiegrrl.com/featuredartist.htm)
There’s an interview and a couple of pics.
7. Cool videos
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa Koch is one of the funniest humans alive. She produced my Never Assume
album. You can hear her singing backup on “Menstrual Tango” and “When Cats
Take Over the World” on my Three Bridges album. Check out this video with one
of her songs, one that every middle aged woman should hear:
_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1TVOXdNkFo_
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1TVOXdNkFo)
And while I’m at it, check out this Xena footage with Alix Dobkin’s
fabulous “Lesbian Code” song as the soundtrack:
_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0srcJLMAmGQ_
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0srcJLMAmGQ)
Now watch this one:

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yq0tMYPDJQ&feature=related)
Then watch the parody. It'll make you blow Diet Coke out your nose:

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gwqEneBKUs)
I’d be remiss if I didn’t include this one:
_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9z-Aatd0wA_
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9z-Aatd0wA)
I’m hoping to have my own videos up in a few months. Until then you’ll have
to satisfy yourself with the plethora of videos that have my cat song as a
soundtrack. Just search for “When Cats Take Over the World.” Be forewarned,
they are of varying quality. Hey, it’s You Tube.

8. Do you know LaDessa Coleman in Phoenix, AZ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If so, then I hope you can help me. In November, LaDessa purchased $75 worth
of CDs from Linda Bilque and myself. She used a credit card that was later
denied. She promised to send me a money order to cover it but despite several
emails and phone calls, I have yet to receive the money. I'm hoping that it's
just an oversight on her part. If not, I am saddened that a sister would
treat me this way. If you know her, would you encourage her to send me the money
so that Linda and I can be paid for our CDs? Thank you.
9. Can you write a quick review of Three Bridges?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are places at many web sites where you can post a quick review of
Three Bridges. Here's one of them: _www.cdbaby.com/jamieanderson4_
(http://www.cdbaby.com/jamieanderson4) - just click on the "post a review" link at the
bottom of the page. You don't have to write anything beautifully poetic or
lengthy, a simple "I loved it, my dog loved it and you'll love it" would suffice.
You can also go to _www.amazon.com_ (http://www.amazon.com/) . Do a search on
my name and then click on one of the CD covers. Just a couple of lines under
my name you’ll see a link that’ll take you to a screen where you can write
a review.
Or, go here _http://musicishere.com/artists/Jamie_Anderson/Three_Bridges_
(http://musicishere.com/artists/Jamie_Anderson/Three_Bridges) and add a comment
at the bottom of the page
Or go here _http://www.buy.com/prod/three-bridges/q/loc/109/204820319.html_
(http://www.buy.com/prod/three-bridges/q/loc/109/204820319.html) and click on
the review button.
If you're a lesbian and feel extra motivated, you could write something a
bit longer for the Lesbian Connection: _elsiepub at aol.com_
(mailto:elsiepub at aol.com) .
There, that should keep you busy for a while. :)

10. Looking for a wedding dress and baton twirling costume
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No, I’m not getting married. At least, there’s no wedding planned. Is
there, honey? Honey? <taps screen> Anyway, if you happen to have a size 12 wedding
dress you don’t want anymore or if you see one for really cheap at a thrift
store (say, $10 or less), I’d love to have it, as long as you can bring it to
a gig or get it to me in an otherwise inexpensive manner. Likewise for
something I could use as a baton twirling costume. I’ll be emceeing at the
National Women’s Music Festival this year and I’m thinking I should really dress.
While the powder blue lace prom dress with tiara is lovely, it just doesn’t
feel like enough this year.
11. Mailing list business
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are on this list because you signed up at a concert or went online and
signed yourself up. If neither of those things happened then someone has
forwarded you this newsletter. I do not add anyone without their permission nor is
this list sold to anyone else. If you'd like to unsub, I'll cry but I won't
make you pay my therapist bill. You can do it yourself at
_www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html) .
Likewise if you'd like to change your address. Please don't forward virus warnings,
news items, jokes or petitions. With over 2,000 of you on this list it'd be
too much to keep up with the extra mail. However, I love getting mail from fans
and answer when I can: tsunamiinc at aol dot com.

12. Quote
~~~~~~~
”Life isn’t waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in
the rain.” – Anonymous (which probably means it was a woman)
So dance! And if you need someone to play the cumbus for those battery
powered hips, give me a call.
Peace and chocolate,
