2. Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damn but I had a blast at the Virginia Women’s Music Festival. Danced my
fool arse off. Paid for it the next day. Everyone sing! I wanna rock and roll
all night and feel like crap the next day … Thanks to my favorite dance bands
(Sisterfunk, Wicked Jezabel and Paprika) for the pain (well worth it) as well
as all the other great performers. I lurve this festival.
Thanks to the Dalton Highway ladies for hosting me in Columbia, SC. I hope
to be back there again.
And last but certainly not least, whoo wee did I have a good time with my
band at the Broad Street Café in Durham in early May. It was the band’s debut
and I think they kicked some serious booty. Thanks to everyone who came to the
gig. If you missed it, or if you just can’t get enough, we’ll be at
Festival for the Eno on July 5.
Speaking of festivals, I’m about to pee my pants with excitement over the
National Women’s Music Festival this month. It’s a great line-up, from Ellis
to God-Des and She. Tret Fure is coming with a band and my fav Middle Eastern
/ Latin / Whatevah dance band Paprika will be strutting their stuff. I’ll be
emceeing the whole shebang. Expect some surprises like contests, bellydancing
and if I can find a way to get it on the airplane, baton twirling. I promise
to remember the tiara.
I’m doing a lot of writing lately. Check out my blogs at AfterEllen.com and
articles in Curve. More below.
Hope to see y’all at a gig!
3. My blogs at AfterEllen.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m writing recaps of reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance:
_http://www.afterellen.com/blog/58173_ (http://www.afterellen.com/blog/58173)
I’ve also penned an article about women’s music:
_http://www.afterellen.com/music/2008/4/womensmusic101_
(http://www.afterellen.com/music/2008/4/womensmusic101)
I’ll be writing more for them. Stay tuned.

4. Articles in Curve
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve also written a couple of articles for Curve for their July music
issue. It should be out this month. I’m not sure yet if you’ll be able to read
them on line (if so, it’ll be at _www.curvemag.com_ (http://www.curvemag.com/) )
or just the paper version.
5. Looking for a gig in Kentucky or Ohio for August 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ll be on my way to the Michigan festival. Please help a gal earn some gas
money. Do you have a living room or other space that’ll fit 20 or more? A
good address book? A desire to have a party with, if I may brag, great live
music and comedy? E me, ‘k? Jamie at jamieanderson dot com.

6. Looking for Midwest venues for November
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you know of a great venue in the midwest shoot me an email. It needs to
have a listening crowd, a PA and more than pass-the-hat-pay. I’ll consider a
house concert too (and I don’t need a PA for those) but I’ll book those
later. E me: Jamie at jamieanderson dot com.
7. Ways you can support my music
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was in last month’s newsletter but here it is again, in case you missed
it.
I got some of these suggestions from my friend Dave Nachmanoff. He’s a great
singer-songwriter and guitarist, BTW, _www.davenach.com_
(http://www.davenach.com)
Here are the ways you could support my work:
Put together a video using one of my songs as the music, and post it to
YouTube. It could be a slide show – feel free to use the photos at
_www.jamieanderson.com_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/) - or live footage of Fluffy and
Muffin set to “When Cats Take Over the World.” The possibilities are endless.
Order some of my CDs (ask me about volume discounts) and give them to all
your friends as presents. Maybe Mom has a birthday coming up?
Organize a house concert and invite all your friends. Or bring a bunch of
friends to hear me in concert. Word of mouth is my best promo tool. It’s not
like you’re gonna see me on American Idol or anything. Yeah, yeah, you only
watch public TV.
Put a link on your website or ask to be my friend on MySpace.
Write a short review for either Amazon.com, my CDbaby.com pages, or for any
music review site that accepts outside reviewers. It doesn’t have to be
brilliant – “I love it, my houseplants love it, you’ll love it” would suffice.
Contact your favorite coffeehouse, folk concert series, college or festival
and ask that they book me.
Give me the contact information for your favorite local venue.
E my songs to friends. There’s a bunch of free ones at
_www.jamieanderson.com/music.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/music.html)
Thanks!!

8. Mailing list business
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are on this list because you signed up at a concert or went online and
signed yourself up. If neither of those things happened then someone has
forwarded you this newsletter. I do not add anyone without their permission nor is
this list sold to anyone else. If you'd like to unsub, I'll cry but I won't
make you pay my therapist bill. You can do it yourself at
_www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/newsletter.html) . Likewise
if you'd like to change your address. Please don't forward virus warnings,
news items, jokes or petitions. With over 2,000 of you on this list it'd be
too much to keep up with the extra mail. However, I love getting mail from
fans and answer when I can: tsunamiinc at aol dot com.
