This is from my friend Mosa’s 2008 coloring book/calendar of snow crystals.
I love her work and always have fun coloring in the drawings. Maybe there’s
someone in your life who might like a calendar? Add colored pencils or felt
tip pens and make it a really special gift. Everyone loves to color, not just
kids. Contact Mosa at _mimosa at wiseheart.com_ (mailto:mimosa at wiseheart.com) .

2. Welcome and  general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hot damn  did I have a fun time in Arizona. The folks at Greenfire in Tucson
were as wonderful  as always and the audience, warm and receptive. Nice of
Martie van der Voort to  jump up and sing a couple of tunes with me. While I was
in the city I visited  the best women's bookstore on the planet, Antigone
Books _www.antigonebooks.com_ (http://www.antigonebooks.com) .
And  Saturday in Phoenix? Who knew that the Community Church of  Hope was
such a nice space? And that anyone would come to hear me after being  away from
Phoenix for several years? There were all your  smiling faces, as well as Linda
Bilque and Rochelle Raya who shared the stage,  and dang ya'll! I love Linda’
s story songs and what a great pleasure to  perform with Rochelle. How did I
ever get through a blues number without Roch’s  smokin’ harp? I’m scratching
my head, trying to figure out how to bring them to  my neck of the woods. I
loved singing with the angel-voiced Michelle Marquand  too. It’s been too long
since we performed  together.
On  Sunday, I played for over a hundred women at the Superstition RV Resort
in  Apache Junction. Oh, and a few men too, all of them family members. Not “
family”  but real flesh and blood family. Thanks to everyone who came to the
show and  mind you, I’m expecting a mosh pit next time.
My trip  home was interesting. My flight from Phoenix returned there after
two hours in the  air when the door for the landing gear wouldn’t close. It made
me late for my  connecting flight in Charlotte. I was one of 20-some people
on  stand-by for the last flight to Raleigh-Durham. We waited until after
midnight,  the plane’s departure delayed again and again. I couldn’t get online, I
finished  my book and I lost every game of solitaire so I pulled out my
mandolin. My airport buddies and I engaged in raucous renditions of “Wild  Thing,”
 “Born to be Wild” and more. The adults tapped their toes and an adorable
three year old in baggy pants jumped up and wiggled his butt in time. As I
struck the last chord of a very long medley, a guy at the ticket counter threw
back his head and added, “I just want to go hooooommmme!” Amen, brother. I
didn’t make it on that plane – they refused to strap extra seats on the wings –
 so I spent the night at a hotel, courtesy of the airline. I made it home the
 next day, just three hours before my first guitar  student.
Thanks to  everyone who bought Three Bridges! Be sure to check out the liner
notes  at _www.jamieanderson.com_ (http://www.jamieanderson.com/)  Just click
on the Three  Bridges album cover. And while you’re there, click on the link
for the  video for “My Dad Loves to Sing.”
On a  sadder note – I heard of Jane Rule’s passing today. She’s one of my
favorite  authors, penning the classic “Desert of the Heart.” There’s more at
I don’t  have any gigs for the next couple of months - those of you in New
Jersey will see me in  February. As for the rest of you, if you want to hear me
in your hometown, let  me know who I can contact 'cause I’m always looking for
venues. Have a safe  and happy holiday, y’all, whatever one you  celebrate.
Did you know that the title  for Stevie Nicks song “Edge of Seventeen” came
about because she  misunderstood a Southern accent? She asked Tom Petty’s wife
when they met. The  reply was “age of seventeen” but she heard “edge of
seventeen.” She remembered  the phrase when it came time to write the song. I
learned that from the  website listed above. I’ve had big fun plugging in
different titles and finding  more about my favorite songs.
4. Want a concert in your living room? Do you live in PA, NJ, NY  or New
England?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you can see above, I’ve got a couple of gigs scheduled for New England
and New York. Want to offer your living room for a house concert? I need
something in NJ or eastern PA for February. In March, I’m looking for NY or New
England gigs. Don’t worry if you’re a first-time concert presenter –  I can
help you out. Give me a shout if you’re interested: Tsunamiinc at aol.com

5. Wanna see a really hot woman guitarist? How ‘bout three?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last  month I told you about a video of guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe just
burning  it up on the electric guitar. A fan sent me this video of Cordell
Jackson:
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtZjK8x5kGU)
Wow, wow,  wow. There are many great women guitarists, they just aren’t as
well known. In  case you missed the other videos, here they are, this one is of
Sister Rosetta  Tharpe. Don’t let the prim dress and hair throw you  off:
And  here’s Ruthie Foster singing the same song, only in an old school R&B
kind  of way:
7. The ending  quote
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>From Planet Proctor in the Funny Times (_www.funnytimes.com_
(http://www.funnytimes.com/) ):
“I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. Mother took me to see
him in a department store and he asked for my autograph.” – Shirley Temple
I don’t care what she says. I’m still hoping Santa will bring me a new
truck. Toyota, four wheel drive, extended cab, please.
Peace and  chocolate y’all –
