2. Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy new queer, uh, new year!
December was faaaabulous. I started it with some fun gigs in Arizona and New Mexico. Thanks to everyone who came out for those shows. And yes, I had green chilis in New Mexico and damn – three syllables – it was gooood. A big raspberry to the boogerhead security guy at the Phoenix airport who took my green chili sauce because, after all folks, it’s a cream and we’re looking after your safety.
I spent the holidays in Canada because I’m bi-nationally dating now. I’m still an American (insert national anthem here) but my gf lives there and besides, I heard that winter was lovely north of the Great Lakes. As it turns out, it has been lovely, often a practically balmy 20 degrees (F) with sun and hardly any snow. Hey! If I’m gonna suffer through a real winter, I want snow. Dammit. Thank you global warming.
I’ve learned many things here. Canadians are not dorks, they’re just trying to keep warm. It’s hard to look chic in a wool hat with pom poms, oversize gloves knitted by your grandma and giant rubber boots. I’ve learned the fine Canadian greeting ritual of taking off your boots, jacket and mittens while hugging several people hello. I don’t even trip over my scarf anymore.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s helped me with my new album. I now have 40% of the funding I need, enough to book the studio. Whoo hoo! Kara Barnard and I go into the studio in April to record a couple of new songs. I need just a bit more money to finish the project. There’s an order form below if you want to help me get there. The CD should be out this summer, goddess willin’ and the crik don’t rise.
I’m really looking forward to my gig in Columbia at the end of this month. After that, my next gigs are in March on the east coast. A few are listed above. Look for more to be added. Hope to see you out, and I mean that, at a gig!
4. Helping our soldiers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Regardless of how you feel about the war there are thousands of soldiers, some young and away from home for the first time, who are stuck in the middle of a desert without basic necessities. If you want to send a gift to one or several of them, check out http://anysoldier.com/WhereToSend Read their posts. It’s heartbreaking to know that some of them don’t even get regular meals. Every female soldier whose post I read requested sanitary supplies. Many want books and DVDs to pass the time. Some are also collecting items for the kids and other civilians they come into contact with. C’mon and clean off your bookshelf, go through that box of DVDs, buy some snacks and send them off. I did and heard from a couple of them. They all said how grateful they were for everything. The snack food seemed to be the biggest hit. You can never go wrong with chocolate.

7. Please help me get festival bookings
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve sent my audition package to several festivals. It’s not just my charming personality they’re looking at but they wanna know if I’ll draw people to their event. Here are some of the festivals I’ve applied for. If you could write and let them know that I’m pretty damn charming in concert, that’ll sure help. It’ll help even more if it’s a festival you’d be more likely to attend if I was playing. Tell them I asked you to write and I’ll smack you. Oh sure, some of you would like that.
