2. Welcome and general blabbing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Big thanks to everyone who came to my Midwest shows. It was great seeing y’
all and nice to know that I have a gig singing in dorm at Monmouth College
anytime I want (and I can bring my cats!). At least, that’s what one person told
me. I think she was the same one who threw herself on stage after my last song …
stop spoiling me people.
Okay, don’t stop.
It’s spring! Wha hoo! I planted a garden and mowed the lawn, did all the fun
things that the season brings. I’m rethinking the four zucchini plants. Come
to my summer shows and get a free zucchini with every CD purchase!
Got several groovy gigs coming up, all in or close to North Carolina. This
weekend I’m appearing in Durham with a slew of musicians who are in my
songwriting group. I’m only doing 3 or 4 songs but y’all will be treated some fine
songs by some of the best the triangle has to offer. Hey, I wouldn’t be in a
group with any songwriting slobs.  On May 19th I’m sharing a stage with Holly Near
in central PA. Whoo hoo!! Memorial Day weekend I’ll be at the Virginia Women’
s Music fest along with some stellar entertainment – Alix Olson, Tret Fure,
Paprika, Wishing Chair, Ember Swift, Someone’s Sister, Laura McLean, Kindred
and many more. It’s not a festival to be missed, women! And for you triangle
area babes, it’s only a thee or four hour drive. Details about all the gigs are
above.
3. This Way Out
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This Way Out, a really great radio show that’s been extremely supportive of
independent music (mine included), is losing an important sponsor. In June you’
ll no longer be able to hear them at PlanetOut.com. The termination leaves
the groundbreaking show not only searching for a new online home, but even more
urgently scrambling for the funds to replace PlanetOut's $1,000 monthly
licensing fee that has become its only reliable income.

"'This Way Out' has had its share of near-death experiences, but rarely in
our history has the team been as anxious about its future," says Gordon, one of
the producers. Still, he insists, "we remain optimistic about finding
alternative funding to underwrite our modest $750-per-program budget." Overnight
Productions Board Chair Jon Beaupre adds, "Were trying to identify potential major
donors, and asking for contributions and other fundraising assistance from
anyone who can help."

If you know of a public radio station or internet resource that might be
interested in carrying This Way Out, give them a shout. You can also send them a
tax deductible contribution. To view the current carriage list of more than
150 local broadcast stations, along with short wave, satellite to home and cable
outlets, to make donations online (U.S. tax-deductible), or for other
information, visit thiswayout.org, email TWORadio at aol.com, or write to "This Way Out"
at P.O. Box 38327, Los Angeles, CA 90038.

4. Do you live in Maryland, DC or Virginia? Want to do a house concert?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
House concerts are fun. It's like giving a great party with live music. All
you need is space that seats 20 or more plus a good mailing list of friends.
Even if you've never done it before, I can guide you through the process. Give
me a shout at office at jamieanderson.com if you might be interested.
Here’s what I’m looking for right now. Even if you can’t help me with these
dates and/or places, let me know if you might be interested in hosting a
concert and where you live.
May 21, Virginia or DC
July 14, eastern PA, Virginia, DC or Maryland
July 16, eastern PA, Virginia, DC or Maryland
5. Women in Harmony Music Camp for Women deadline for discount is soon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Women in Harmony, my music camp for women, will be June 22 -- 25 at The
Mountain, a beautiful resort in the mountains southwest of Asheville, NC. This is
our fifth year! There'll be fun workshops (guitar, mandolin, harmony singing,
songwriting, drumming and more), song circles, and an open mike. All levels are
welcome - from shower singers to intermediate players/singers. It’s like Girl
Scout camp for adults only you don’t have to sleep on the ground.

Save some dough by registering before May 22! You can register at
http://mountaincenters.org/WomeninHarmony_RegForm.pdf or call 828-526-5838

All of our fab teachers are returning - Elaine Townsend, Phyllis Free, Mary
Hocks and moi. The rooms are comfortable with a bathroom in every room, great
meals (including vegetarian options) and fabulous extras including trails for
hiking and a pond for swimming. The main room where most of our activities take
place is comfortably large with great views AND a grand piano. Last year we
spent equal amounts of time eating, singing and gazing at the rising moon over
the deck where we all stayed. It's $350 before May 22, $375 after that date -
cash, check or credit - includes all programming, housing and meals.

Check out the website for photos of this gorgeous setting. It really is on
top of a mountain! If you want to see info and photos from our previous years,
see www.jamieanderson.com/harmony.htm.

11. The ending quotes
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks to Mary for this month’s quotes
“Gay marriage should be legal, if just to raise the standard of dancing at
receptions.” – Liz Langley
“I don’t need a baby growing inside me for nine months. If I’m going to feel
nauseous and achy when I wake up, I want to achieve that state the
old-fashioned way: getting good and drunk the night before.” – Ellen DeGeneres
Peace and chocolate,
